Grand Design Solitude and Solitude S-Class
Grand Design Solitude

Grand Design started in 2012. Despite being a relatively new company, it built a solid reputation from the ground up. Being a recipient of several Quality Circle awards, they are proud of setting the bar high.

Each of their trailers goes through a pre-delivery inspection, which is a part of their quality control. The latter makes sure that each unit is perfect before shipping.

While they have multiple toy haulers, fifth wheels, and travel trailers, the Solitude and Solitude S-Class are most popular. These product lines are available in different floor plans, all of which are luxurious and spacious. The Grand Design RVs are a cut above the rest from the interior to the exterior, construction to warranty.

Main Features of the Grand Design Solitude and Solitude S-Class Travel Trailers

To deliver the best experience on the road, the Solitude and Solitude S-Class travel trailers pack a lot of notable features, including those we’ll talk about below:

1. Thermal Roof Insulation

The design of the thermal roof is one of the highlights of these trailers. Aside from fiberglass insulation, it also has radiant foil layers that surround the roof. More so, it has a vented attic. As a result, condensation escapes the trailer, making it more comfortable.

2. Fully-laminated Walls

With the full lamination of the walls, the trailer is durable while also effective in temperature management. It keeps the heat outside. Plus, it is unlike others with soft fiberglass and wood framing that can deteriorate over time.

3. Evenflow Heating System

Spending the winter on the road? No need to worry about your comfort. With an Evenflow Heating System, the trailer has excellent temperature management. It does not need floor vents to ensure the proper circulation of warm air in the trailer.

4. Wide-Body Chassis

The chassis of these trailers have a width of 101 inches. It is one of the biggest that you will find in the market. More so, it is five inches wider than most of its competitors. With this, it has a more generous livable space.

5. Smart AC System

Its cooling system is up to two times more powerful than its competitors. You can sleep at night without the air conditioning being a disturbance. The AC also has air-tight connectors to protect against external elements that can speed up wear. Best of all, it won’t take long before it cools the trailer.

6. Compass Connect

Control the different aspects of the trailer with a user-friendly mobile app. With Compass Connect, you can turn the lights on and off. It will also control the awning and slide-outs. Plus, you can receive notifications about important information, such as leveling issues and low battery status.

7. Power Seats

The power seats will make your travels more comfortable, a feature that you will find in the S-Class trailers. They also have heat and massage so that you can relax even on the road. Plus, it is surely difficult for you to get out of the seat with their plush cushioning!

8. Rail-Tite Underbelly Seal

The underbelly has rigid aluminum rails. It also has a corrugated barrier, which protects against external elements.

9. Hydraulic Leveling System

Keeping the trailers level is effortless. It has a six-point leveling system, making it easy to ensure a safe position for the trailer.

10. Optional Solar Package

If the budget permits, you can also enjoy a solar package. This will let you enjoy eco-friendly power on the go. The package is inclusive of a 2,000-watt inverter, a 30-amp controller, and a 300-watt solar panel.

To help you better evaluate these motorhomes, here is a quick rundown of the good and the bad:

Pros of Solitude and Solitude S-Class RVs

Below are some of the most compelling reasons why these travel trailers are amongst the best in the market:

1. Large Interiors

One of the best-selling points of the Solitude and Solitude S-class trailers is that they have spacious interiors. They are some of the roomiest that you will find in the market. With that, it is easy and comfortable to move around.

2. Good Suspension System

With the CRE300 Suspension System, which you will find in the Solitude S-class models, you can expect a notable suspension performance. As a result, it will have smoother towing and minimal damage from road shock.

3. Durable Construction

These trailers are also well-loved for their durability. They use premium materials that will withstand the test of time. The trailer will prove to be tough even in harsh environments.

4. Cooling System Runs Quietly

The manufacturer claims that their trailers are up to two times quieter than the competition. This means that you won’t be bothered by a loud noise when the AC is running, especially when sleeping on the road.

5. Excellent Customer Service

If you have concerns or questions, reach out to the customer service team. It won’t take long before they respond. You can reach them in many ways. Plus, they have knowledgeable people who can help you with any problem.

6. Comprehensive Warranty Coverage

The manufacturer believes that their trailers are impressive, so they are offering industry-leading warranty coverage:

  • Three-year limited structural warranty
  • Five-year axle warranty
  • Five-year exterior graphics warranty
  • Five-year tire warranty
  • 12-year roof covering warranty
  • 25-year floor decking warranty

Cons of the Solitude and Solitude S-Class RVs

Despite the benefits, these RVs also have drawbacks, including those that I will list below:

1. Expensive

The price of this travel trailer is one thing that discourages many people. It is not for buyers on a budget. Instead, it is those for those who do not mind the splurge. Nonetheless, every dollar is worth it, especially considering its performance and features.

2. Can Be Difficult to Tow

It is a disadvantage that relates to the size of the trailer. Since it is big, towing the trailer can be tasking. With this, I am not recommending this for first-time buyers. Parking can be stressful, especially for those who lack RVing experience.

3. Requires a Large Towing Vehicle

The gross vehicle weight ratings of the models under Solitude and Solitude S-Class range from 15,000 to 17,000. It means that they are heavy and bulky. Hence, you will need a large towing vehicle to accommodate the trailer’s weight, including its add-ons.

Conclusion – Grand Design Solitude and Solitude S-Class RVs

The Grand Solitude and Solitude S-Class travel trailers are some of the best RVs in the market today. They are luxurious with generous living spaces. Available in a wide array of floor plans, all models have exceptional constriction, which will make it worth every dollar.

Some of the most notable features of these trailers include:

  • Thermal insulation on the roof,
  • Full wall lamination,
  • Wide chassis,

Despite the benefits, it also has some drawbacks. For instance, it is not for people on a budget. Additionally, it isn’t easy to tow because of its size and weight.
